Class Description

Graphic Design is a course intended to use traditional materials and computers to combine text and graphics to make visual statements for a variety of problems. We will study how the impact of the elements of art and principles of design interplay with the message given when using text and graphics. We will explore the use of Adobe Photoshop as a tool used to make graphics along with others as well allowing us to be an informed user of the variety of ways a graphic designer chooses the appropriate working environment for the task.

Course Syllabus--Graphic Design I

This semester course introduces students to the function of graphic design, graphic design terminology, the role of the Design Principles in creating successful composition and layout, and computer generated imagery using Adobe Photoshop CC, as well as traditional means for creating artistic artifacts.

Students will have guided lessons in learning the tools and functions of Photoshop CC as a strong foundation to enable them to create projects such as a typography portrait, CD design, a poster for a cause, an expressive self-portrait, as well as solving other real-world graphic design problems.Class will consist of projects, sketches, and assignments to help understand aspects of design and use of computer related software.
